Children's Literature – Caroline Moore
Failure Inc. is the best detective agency in town—just ask the owner and founder, Timmy Failure, and his 1500-pound polar bear, Total. Timmy runs his detective agency out of a closet and uses the Failuremobile (his mom’s Segway) to move about town, solving a variety of cases. As Timmy works to solve a plethora of mysteries, he runs into problems. Someone steals his Failuremobile; he might have to repeat the 6th grade; and his archenemy, who shall not be named, is on his trail. Timmy works diligently and with strategic skill to overcome all obstacles in his path. Pastis uses a laugh-out-loud character and intriguing real-life conflicts to keep readers amused and entranced with his witty plot. Each adventure brings readers closer to the realization that we all fail and rise in spite of it. Readers will enjoy Pastis’ comical illustrations and ironic banter throughout this gut-busting adventure. Reviewer: Caroline Moore; Ages 8 to 12.
