Gracie & Grandma

Donated by Julie Mason. Children's Literature: Every grandmother knows that when is comes to being in charge of their preschoolers, grandmothers seldom are. Gracie's grandmother is no exception. When she comes to pick Gracie up from school, she expects to go straight home. But not Gracie. First, she has to slide and jump on the pillows, then wash her hands with lots of soap, try on Grandma's tall black (very stylish) boots, and take forever getting on her snowsuit and mittens. The lure of chicken wings sends Gracie flying to her stroller and it is off to Grandma's house. There she plays with kitty, takes a bubble bath with ALL her bath toys, and is comfortably ready when the doorbell rings and Mommy and Daddy arrive for dinner. This Norwegian import scores an A+ with this grandmother. The daily activities of Gracie and her grandmother, appropriately accompanied by squiggly, child-like drawings rendered in ink and marker, are an accurate portrayal of life with a little one. The crisp white background is the perfect backdrop for the large typeface and bright primary color art. Grandmothers will enjoy sharing this one and will be on the lookout for the others in the series. Reviewer: Beverley Fahey
